Sharif University of Technology- International Campus History

Kish Nonprofit-Nongovernmental Higher Education Institute was established on Kish Island in 1995 with an official permit from the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (MSRT); later in 2004 Sharif University of Technology (SUT) was entrusted with its management. The policy of increasing the number of international programs aiming to attract international students led to the launch of joint programs with Monash University of Australia as well as Multimedia University (MMU) in Malaysia. Following the official transfer of Kish University to SUT in 2009, the education and research activities of SUT-International Campus with the goal of developing higher education in Iran continued. Since then, more than 2000 students have been graduated from SUT in a number of engineering and management fields. Admission to the campus can be made either by submitting a direct application or through the nationwide university entrance examination at undergraduate and graduate levels.

Sharif University of Technology

Established in 1965, Sharif University of Technology (SUT) accepted the responsibility of training specialized and committed human resources along with conducting applied researches in numerous fields of study. This university has more than 420 faculty members, 13 schools, 6 research centers, 15 centers of excellence and an international campus. In the past five years, more than 90% of the undergraduate applicants ranked between 1st and 100th and 50% of graduate applicants ranked between 1st and 500th in the nationwide university entrance examination have selected SUT as a prominent educational institute to pursue their studies; this is considered to be the highest number of attracting top students in comparison with the other Iranian universities.

Kish Island

SUT- International Campus is located on one of the most beautiful coral islands in the world which is known as the pearl of the Persian Gulf. Kish Island with an area of 90 km2 and 20 km of peripheral beaches looks like a partial ellipse; Kish is located along the first quarter of Iran’s shores in the Persian Gulf whose total length amounts to 1,359 km. As one of the Free Trading Zones in Iran it is the only place that foreigners can travel to without requesting a visa; the students can enjoy the peace and quiet of the place along with the exciting watersport clubs, sport facilities, and other recreational centers. The locational, environmental and entertaining features of this exotic place has made it an ideal destination for an international campus for a prominent university like SUT.
