How Students Are Admitted to International Campus
Sharif University of Technology admits students to bachelor’s and master’s courses of technical and engineering majors as well as MBA in business administration according to permits No. 22/192, dated June 14, 2003, and No. 22/7142, dated December 17, 2003 issued by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology and through one of the following ways.
Due to increased capacity of universities in recent years, International Campus of Sharif University of Technology not only admits students through examinations arranged by Sanjesh Organization, but also in an application-based method as follows.
Admission through national university admission exams:
After the university informs Sanjesh Organization of its capacity to admit students, the hopefuls can choose specific codes of courses taught at the university in booklets published by Sanjesh Organization.
In this case, the files of applicants choosing the above code will be sent by Sanjesh Organization to a special council at Sharif University of Technology and students are admitted according to the capacity announced in examination booklets. The number of files sent to the Council is usually three or four times the capacity and the Council admits students on the basis of their average mark in university examinations and other scientific criteria. The results are then forwarded to Sanjesh Organization to be made public before students could enroll.
Since all courses are taught in English, the applicants should take part in an English test before enrollment. If considered necessary, the applicants will have to pass English language credit hours at language center of the International Campus on Kish Island during the first term. The applicants, who have passed a language test like TOEFL or IELTS or similar tests, do not have to pass the English course and will start with basic and general courses from the first term.
The applicants who fail the English test will not be admitted to International Campus and passing admission examinations will not necessary mean that they would be admitted.
Application-based admission:
Admission Committee of Sharif University of Technology, whose members are vice presidents for educational affairs of both Tehran and Kish campuses in addition to other educational officials of the university, will publish advertisements in newspapers, Peik Sanjesh magazine or credible websites in order to admit students.
In this method, the average mark of students in university admission examinations, marks in specific lessons and other scientific advantages will determine whether an applicant would be admitted or not.
Like the previous admission method, English language skills will be determined before final admission and enrollment.
