Article 1: Students who have the official scores of a mentioned official English proficiency test according to Article 2 or obtains the required scores of SUTIC’s Entrance Exam equals to the IELTS’s scores mentioned in Tables 1 &2 are exempted of taking the compensation English Proficiency Courses 1 or 2. The students who do not meet the requirements are subject to taking the courses.
Article 2: Kish Compensation English Proficiency Course 1 must be taken in the 1st semester and the 2nd is to be taken in the 2nd semester subsequent to passing the 1st compensation English course.
Note 1:
Submission of an official English language proficiency test’s score as mentioned in Table 1 prior to the enrolment of the 1st semester will lead to exemption from taking the Compensation English Proficiency Course 1.
Note 2:
Submission of an official English language proficiency test score as mentioned in Table 2 prior to the enrolment of the 2nd semester will lead to exemption from taking the Remedial English Proficiency Course 2.
Note 3
Submission of an official English proficiency test score as mentioned in Table 2 prior to the enrolment of the 1st semester will lead to exemption from taking both the 1st & 2nd compensation English courses.
Note 4:
In cases that the students participate in the final exam of the compensation English courses but fail to obtain the passing grade and are able to obtain the passing score by the beginning of the next semester from an official English proficiency test, the course must be taken in the second term and the official score will be entered as the course score in the transcripts.
Note 5:
In the case of student’s failure in attending any of the two compensation English courses’ final exams and subsequent obtain of the acceptable mark from an official English proficiency test prior to the beginning of the next term; the score will be accepted and the course must not be taken for the second time if the submission of the score is not later than the last day of Adjustment Period for the following semester. If the submission is successful according to the deadline, the absence will be substituted by CR and if the submission fails to meet the deadline the student must take the compensation course again.
Article 3: The evaluation of the students in the Compensation English Proficiency courses 1&2 will be based on the Language Centre’s designed syllabus which is done by holding 4 IELTs tests throughout the term and an IELTS test as the final exam. The students will be evaluated 40% based on their achievements in the tests during the semester and 60% on the final exam.
Note 1:
The student will pass the Compensation English proficiency Course 1 by scoring 4.5 based on article 3 or submission of an official test score as presented in Table 1.
Note 2:
The student will pass the Compensation English Proficiency course 2 by scoring 5.5 based on article 3 or submission of an official test score as presented in Table 2.
Note 3: Class attendance is compulsory and in case the number of absences exceed 3 session the student will receive and administrative “F” (“FA”) in the academic report of the educational term (transcripts)
Note 4:
Compensation courses are not subject to withdrawal.
Article 4: Undergraduate students must take at least 6 or at most 14 credits in addition to the compensation English proficiency courses in each semester.
Article 5: Graduate students must take at least 6 and at most 9 credits in addition to the compensation English proficiency courses in each semester.
Note: PhD students must submit the acceptable English proficiency score in order to be allowed to participate in the university’s comprehensive exam according to the regulations of Pardis PhD programs.
Article 6: Undergraduate students are not allowed to enroll in the 5th term unless they meet the requirements of English proficiency conditions presented in Table 2 not later than the end of the 4th semester so the student’s permission to continue the studies is subject to SUTIC’s Educational
Council’s permit.
Article 8: In case of passing the Compensation English Proficiency Courses 1 & 2 in the previous
educational program if the interval does not exceed 2 years the student is not obliged to take the courses again; however, all students must attend the SUTIC’s Entrance Exam for the new program.
