Laboratory for Corrosion and Protection of Materials

Introduction

Sharif University Campus Service Laboratory for Corrosion and Protection of Materials was established in 2005, following the formation of the Corrosion Department of Sharif University Campus, the admission of students into the master’s level this field, and the high demand of the region to investigate the corrosive environments of the constructive and industrial structures in the atmosphere and waters of the Persian Gulf.

Aims of the Laboratory

1. To examine and inspect the corrosive processes in the sea water environment.

2. To provide controlling for protection of the constructive and industrial structures in the sea water environment.
3. To educate and train master students.
4. To inspect and select suitable materials for application, with regard to the corrosive environments of the island.

Control Laboratory for Food and Cosmetic Quality

Introduction

Control laboratory for food, health & cosmetic products was established in 1994. This laboratory is responsible to guarantee the quality of both imported and exported goods to and from the island. This facility is accredited with the Iranian Institute of Standards and has scientific collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Medical Education of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Objectives

• To inspect and control the quality of imported and exported products, in order to meet national and international standards

• Quality controlling of imported products to comply with compulsory standards

• Quality controlling of exported products to comply with compulsory standards

• To test and ensure that product samples comply with standards specifications in order to be granted the relevant certificates

• To suspend imports of low-quality products and to supports domestic supplier’s high-quality products

• To guarantee the quality of the products for residences and tourists information

• To provide necessary information to client, as the only scientific and reference laboratory on the island

• To provide training and educational service for the technical and non-technical laboratory staff

• To provide the exporters and importers with consultation services

• To conduct applied research projects focusing particularly on the scientific issues of Kish Island

• To recommend effective procedures in order to eliminate quality defects based on national and international standards
